To be eligible for IHSS, you must be receiving Medi-Cal, be blind, disabled, or over 65 years of age or older, AND be unable to live at home safely without help.

The IHSS Consumer is the primary employer of his/her home care provider. Some of the responsibilities of being the employer include:

• Hiring

• Training

• Supervising

• and if necessary, termination of employment
